Dear Barclays Account Holder,

We recently reviewed your account, and suspect that your Barclays Online Banking account may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party. Protecting the security of your account and of the Barclays IBank network is our primary concern. Therefore, as a preventative measure, we have temporarily limited access to sensitive account features.

To restore your account access, please take the following steps to ensure that your account has not been compromised:

1. Login to your Barclays IBank Internet Banking account.

2. Review your recent account history for any unauthorized withdrawals or deposits, and check your account profile to make sure not changes have been made. If any unauthorized activity has taken place on your account, report this to Barclays staff immediately.

Regards,

J. S. Smith

Barclays Bank PLC.

smells like a scam.........

would also suggest that you delete the link.........

looks like an effort to get you to go to a false site where your keystrokes can be trapped to gain passwords etc plus personal details and maybe even sneak in a trojan which would still let someone access you're PC for sensitive data/keystrokes in future.

stay clear and delete the link from you're post saspo........

Shouldn't you report it to Barclays?

They need to know that someone is trying to make off with money they're looking after...

I've had a half a dozen of these from 'Barclays' each one deleted without opening but sent the details to Barclays (never been a customer)...............no reply, so they don't appear to care:dunno:

It's worth remembering that banks and building societies etc never contact individuals by email re account matters, EVER, EVER, EVER.

Anything like this that appears to be from an official financial institution is ALWAYS a scam or hoax.

The only thing they will use email for is a bit of insurance marketing and such like, even then only when you've agreed to it. So if you get anything from the bank like that, that you haven't agreed to, don't open it.

This type of email has been around for years. You can spot them instantly, just delete them. I sometimes click on the link and just put F**K OFF in one box and SCAMMING B*ST*RD in the other and more often than not the isp is aware of it and the link has already been shut down. Like has been said genuine financial institutions NEVER EVER ask for this info by Email. You have nothing to worry about if you have never entered your details. If you have then you are just the sort of person they are looking for. Send me all of your bank details , and your debit card ,and your pin, and I'll sort it out for you .Honest !!
