Bloody Honda Brakes

Moved the Blackbird in anticipation of a good ride this week-end,

and the dam thing would only just roll!!!

The front brakes have partially stuck on, what a racket!!!

I presume I can do a few miles and they will not bind once they have got rid of the crud on the discs.

Must remember not to ride in the wet again!!!!

PS Its kept in a warm dry garage and my Y*****a YZF600 never did this trick on me

Honda brakes are not exactly well known for sticking on Steptoe.. Ok, we have had a few cases of it on here, but looking at the overal percentage it is quite a rare thing to happen..
I mean, we have had, oooohhhh,, I dunno, perhaps in the last year, 600+ peeps who have been regular contributers.. Out of those we have had reports of maybe 4 or 5 who have suffered ?
( talk about leaving myself wide open to being shot down ! :p ).
About the only adice I can offer ( although to late now ) is if the bike is ridden after salt has been down, just give the calipers a bloody good dowsing with the hose pipe.. plain old tap water in plenty will stop it happening..
For now, I would strongly urge you to just pop the calipers off, copper slip the slider pins and slider bolt, and chances are all will be fine again :p

Thanks Jaws

Spent this pm fiddling instead of riding!!!

Turns out its not the calipers sticking, the noise/reticence to move was due to the bulid up of rust on the disks

Spent time with wire wool getting this surface rust off, and things seem to have improved.

When it was last serviced by Abingdon Motorcycles (February 03), they fitted new pads all round and there is evidence that they have done the job right insomuch as all sliding/moving parts have evidence of Coppaslip.

THANKS GUYS

I suspect these may be patern disks, as they show signs of pitting and seem to be prone to corrosion ie rust.

Now both wheels rotate ok, I am sure that I can take it out without any worry.

Just need to ride more to stop this rust building up again.

Thanks for the advice Jaws, hope you not reading this till late tonight, I am "trapped" indoors as the family have all gone out and left thier key's behind!!!. I would not be very popular if I was to follow suit!!

I'll just have to finish off here, and have a beer
