APPARENTLY

around cambridgeshire these errrrr camera's are known as SAFETY CAMERA'S. so it doesn't really affect us here, because they are there for our safety!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a f%ckin load of b%ll%cks i say!!!!!!!!

So much has been said on this subject.... we even have mobile vans with the bastid's hiding in em saying "SAFETY"..it has long been documented that these things are just revenue generators in the vast majority of cases... whilst it is accpeted vehicles will slow down when they see/approach them, once past what do we/they do..thats right speed up again.

Luckily i have never been had my picture taken of me riding errr unsafely lol.....

I'm sad to say that these camera's are here to stay....It's reported that the Police are buying equipment with the funds....Maybe if it went into repair/up keep of the roads it may not be such a bitter pill to swallow.

Mind you i understand that the local authorities want some of the action...my god then look out ...they will be every 100 yds.

Cheers Dave:rant:

Only thing

will say in their defence they primarily aimed at the "cage" driver, can't remember exact details but whats his name clarkson did a rant on one of prog's about the revenue generated from them.....
I'm sure that there was also a program that carried out a survey on some of the sites, the conclusion being that there was no real reduction in the speed of the traffic or accident's at these sites..
I'm sure we have all seen camera's on straight roads, hidden behind bridges/roadsigns etc with no junction or visiable sign of a hazard around..
Bottom line they are here to stay,my only other gripe with them is they appear to exclude lorries. who can exceed the speed limit by without being snapped???? hope im right on that one..
personally i would ban all lorries from our major roads at certain times and make them stay on the inside lane at least they cause more problems than anything as far as i am concerned

Is there anything we can do about this?

Yes there is, as follows:
1. For those that are risk adverse; comply
2. Take the risk
3. Leave the country as frequently as possible
4. Leave the country permanently
From a personal perspective and given the winter we're having, option 4 is looking odds on favorite right now.

So I presume she pleaded not guilty then Richard...
It is not possible to get nicked for a speed up to and including a 10% error ( 77 in this case ).
There is a very good reason for this rule and it aint got nothing to do with the kind heartedness of the powers that be....
In the rules and regs governing use and construction a speedo can be 10% out.
If folk start getting nicked for less than 10%, ALL vehicle makers would have to recall ALL cars/bikes and recalibrate the speedo's or else they ( the manufacturers ) would be liable for all fines issued for offences within that profile.
Personally I would have told them to sod off, asked also to see the calibration certificate for the device used that was issued THAT DAY, and also asked for sight of the certificate of competence issued to the user of the detection device... both of which are required by law b4 some twot can go waving a hair drier at ya !!

Think she must have been doing 76mph + the 10% approx 83mph if my summs are right she got a ?60.00 and an Sp30....

LOL !! In that case send the whole deal back anyways Richard as I am fairly sure the offence should be shown on the licence as an SP70 ( though I stand to be corrected on this point )

Speeding and cameras

The thing that pisses me off about the speeding debate is the way the authorities manipulate the figures. Kevin Ash wrote an article in the 'comic' the other month, with all the new figures, and the figures for speed related accidents are made up from total bollocks. As far as I can recall, a 'speed related accident' is one where an accident occurs because of in-apropraite speed for driving conditions or situation. So if you fall of in the snow or ice, at 10 mph, it can be recorded as a speed related accident, If someone runs up your arse, even below the speed limit, it to can be a speed related accident. And so on .......

These figures are then used to justify more speed cameras.

Gunna have to stop now before my head explodes.

Found it amusing that someone knows what to do with the cameras after seeing on beeb local tonight that someone blew up the piccy box at thrapston today what a bl**dy shame, never mind thats the third cam thats been put out of use on a605, can't be many of the poxy things still alive, as for trucks getting past them, the reason is that speed limit on most de-restricted roads is 60mph and our dear old benders can only do 56mph flat out, although they are supposed to stick to 40 on single carrigeways

Richard -- sorry to hear about the piccy but the sp30 code is correct, it refers to -Exceeding statutory speed limit on a public road. and normal acpo guidelines for being nicked is 10%+2mph so if you have any doubts ask for a copy of the photo:B :B

Just for info

Speed limit codes on licences....

SP10 Exceeding Goods Vehicle speed limits
SP20 Exceeding speed limit for type of vehicle exc. LGV/PCV
SP30 Exceeding statutory speed limit on a public rd
SP40 Exceeding passenger vehicles speed limit
SP50 Exceeding speedliit on a motorway
SP60 Undefined speed limit offence

However, firebird is correct the 10% +2 is ACPO guidelines, and I would certainly question the penalty if the speed was 76. :t

Jaws, not sure about SP70 never seen it :dunno: and it aint in any of me books at work but I'll keep looking and get back to ya.
