this is what earth looks like - not simulations, actual photos - from the far side of Saturn, approximately one billion miles away.

Makes you think....

There was a fascinating Horizon on BBC on Sunday night covering the Cassini mission, well worth a look to see what humans can achieve in a positive way when they put their mind to it.

Yeah like anyone's ever been to the far side of Saturn.
If you pay attention Derek you may have seen that NASA have spent the last twenty nine years sending a probe to Jupiter which was deliberately crashed into Jupiter's atmosphere a few days ago. It sent back hundreds of thousands of images and, to quote NASA, "enough data to keep the scientists busy for a hundred years".

You may have missed it , probably distracted by pointing in amazement at a horseless carriage as it went past

I saw a post on faceache the other day that makes you think.

An American took a spirit level up in a plane & while cruising at 30k feet clearly showed on a video that the bubble indicated level flight. The thing is IF the earth was round, the plane would have to be 'nose down' to compensate for any curvature. Thus proving the earth is in fact flat.

However, there's a theory that suggests if the earth is flat, the cats would have knocked everything off by now.

Seriously confused :sifone:

I think you would understand the science if the plane flew sideways.

Duh ... that's wrong on so many levels
Even in "level flight" (not gaining or losing altitude) the pitch attitude of an aircraft can be nose-up or nose-down relative to the horizon
And you certainly don't need to "aim" the nose at the horizon when flying level

If you did all the coffee would run to the front ;-)
