Hey !! Welcome back John !!!

You wait, after a while you will have masses more energy than you have had for ages !! :p !!

I am mildly curious on this one John. Whilst not an exercise fanatic, I was reasonably fit ( age taken into consideration) and was walking/climbing up a mountain in Corfu only a month before it happened.
The state of my arteries must have been having some determental effect, so I am waiting with anticipation to see the outcome.
Return to previous state, fine by me. 10% and I'm quids in :yo:

Ok.. a very close analogy ( as given me by a man who knows and also happens to do some serious riding ;-) )

It is very much like having suspension that is past its best :p

The degradation happens so slowly we are not aware of it. Worse, because it is a slow process we ride round the problems and do not even realise there is one..
Then one day the rear shock goes pop !

So you now HAVE to have the suspension sorted out. All is rebuilt and suddenly you find the bike doing stuff that you forgot it was capable of :-0)

My personal analogy would be one of a 2 stroke engine that needs a decoke
performance slowly drops off and once again tis not really noticable cos the drop of is slow it is not noticed..
Then you do a decoke and by the cringe !!

Howard mate, the op does pray on your mind, but once you're in and they've shaved you, gowned you and given you the two little tablets (they're just to help you relax!) The next thing you will know is some 12 hours later when it all done. You will be a bit groggy but NOT in any pain. From then on its slow steady steps to recovery.

If you want to chat about it 07788428485

Thanks for the re assurance John, Well its all over now. Got back home last Friday after an 11 day stay in hospital, as you said, as soon as the injection goes in you wake up! The operation took 5 hours, I woke up with tubes in my neck, arm, wrist, back, leg on the High Dependancy Unit, stayed there for 24 hours then onto a normal ward, spent a further 3 days in bed until I could get up, still knackered every time I get up and in pain, also just shuffling about like an old man, the painkillers are helping though :-0)

Will post a pic of MY scar when I can face looking at it!! h1d1ng2

Brilliant Howard and welcome back.

All I can say is that its a slow process to recovery, you get a bit frustrated at times, but you do make a slow steady recovery. I'm now almost 4 weeks post op, getting out and about each day for a short time but really starting to feel a lot better.

Keep taking the tablets! Give me a ring if you want a chat.

Glad your on the up, Yes I am getting frustrated with my lack of mobility, having to sleep on my back, not sleeping - but being in pain, Nodding off every 5 minutes, and generally everything I used to do and take for granted now taking a lot longer if at all - but as you say every day so far I seem to be improving, its just so slow!

All the best
