Had my bird for about 5 yrs now, all I did was fit Jaws flat bars, and the 6mm shim on the rear shock ! what a difference!! I can throw her into most bends with gay abandon knowing she will come out the other side with a grinning fool aboard! I use Pirelli Angel st on the front and GT on the rear, never ever has she slipped, let go or done anything "odd". I did put and extra 10mm of oil in the forks, that helped a bit, but what do I know , I just ride her.

Newbie:You are a star! on the search for the Brembo conversion plates as we speak-i actually have a pair of goldlines in the garage-that link was the best present ive had in weeks lol.
Sorry ive been a bit offline lately but work is a bugger and has to be done.
Still collecting parts:
so far-4:1 stainless downpipes,Leo Vince titanium and carbon link and can,2009 Cbr1000rr subframe, seats, tail plastics, mouldings etc, Dunlop 212s now rimmed up and.....just bought a whole Vfr750 so i get the single-side rear end (AND i can measure safe in the knowledge there aren't any shims/spacers missing.
Will actually start posting a couple of pics soon (once i learn how to-ik, read the stickies).
Quick shout -could someone weigh a std seat and let me know how many g it is please (i sold the comfort seat to raise money and forgot to weigh it first).
Also sold the new Bridgestone BT023s and the Givi rack thing so, with no seat left, guess the conversions better start @tu*

Hi NJAY.

You need to be a sponsor of the site to post piccies. What you can do is upload them somewhere else and post a link. :-0)

PS See you found that out yourself. Nice bike in the fastest colour!

I use postimage for pics as I find it easiest & there are no limits, if you just copy hotlink for forums 1 from there to here you will get your pics up easy

As for fitting a vfr arm, I have to say I wonder why anyone would want to add weight to an already heavy bike but ......

Getting the arm in is easy enough but you will find the vfr shock offset so spacing of the linkage or moving the bottom mount is needed along with moving the top mount over, a lot of people just drill another hole for the top mount but I'm not entirely happy with that idea as it ends up close to existing ones, I would at least weld in a crush tube for peace of mind

Out of curiosity, could you not just tee into the brake line for the 2 pots to link it into the 3rd pot?

The brake system is designed to push 3 pots so should work? All it would take is 2 fittings and a little bit of pipe.

Or am I missing something?
The front brake system is NOT designed to push 3 pots.. It is designed to shift two per side..
You try and use all three pots and the lever will feel like wood and the stopping power will be greatly reduced
With all due respect, before offering an opinion at least check the basics good sir :)

Yes, I have got an 800 vifer swing arm, upside down forks ( did not like the SP 1 things so went fro Kwak )
Arse end is a reworked Ducati 916 on home made sub frame

Re swing arm.
It is not quite as straight forward as it looks.
The shock mounting point is off set on the swing arm.
I made up an off set dog bone and shifted the top mount where it goes through the frame by about 25mm

It wasn't an opinion John, it was just a question. I'm very new to the blackbird so I wouldn't profess to know the in's and out's of its systems, just wanting to increase my knowledge.

Alex

At the risk of muddying the waters I did many, many miles on both the linked and delinked setups and really couldn't notice any difference in the real world day to day riding.

But then again I would describe my riding style as cautious so maybe if you go nuts then there might be a worthwhile difference:dunno:

As a cautious rider logic says the original linked system makes more sense.:dunno:

Either way, ABS would be better8rfl@
