Generator/inverter recommendations please

I need a small gennie for tyre warmers for track days. I've seen some silly high prices but I'm always wary of buying cheap, buying twice.

I think I need around 2-2.2kW. Size/weight is also a consideration as it's gotta be thrown in and out the car.

Maybe the camper guys have experience? Any hints, tips, recommendations?

The size you say you want is far from what would be considered small !
Have a look at the Kipor range.
I have had quite a few of them over the years and never had a single issue with one.
Basically they are a copy of the Honda silent suitcSe types

I think I'm gonna have to go something like hire when needed. This would keep a couple of us going so we could split the cost but just a bit big :

Yup, nowt wrong with those things at all..

I forgot the environment you will be using it in..
First thing us MH'ers need is quiet.. so completely different requirements to you.. That will teach me not to think things through !
