Fake Helmet alert

Some of you may not be aware that Ebay have been advertising fake Arai helmets.

I have spoken to Terry Birtles the MD at Moto-Direct who are the UK importers of Arai who said

"We’ve reported to eBay and contacted the sellers but they are based in Asia and seemingly don’t give a monkey’s!"

They also come with counterfeit EU 22/05 safety certificates

I have said many times that a helmet should only be purchased from a dealer, but if you if you are considering or know someone who is considering buying a new Arai, then mabe point them in the direction of this post.

Terry Birtles, the MD at the Arai importers will be happy to provide further information if required.Fake Arai.jpg

Its been happening for a while & its not only Arai or only helmets

Gloves, boots, textiles etc from a lot of the top makers is getting ripped off & imported by less than legal dealers all the while, my advice would be to buy from the importer or their recognised dealers even if you may spend a little more than you had hoped

I totally agree, although to be fair, things like gloves and leathers often come off the same production line as the branded makes but a few get creamed off and don't get badged.

Sialkot in Pakistan is where a lot of this happens and with leathers and textiles the risk is not quite as great as with a hat..

Helmet wise, you are also right, but Moto-Direct are trying to get the message out to those who may perhaps be new to biking and are not familiar with brands or prices, perhap think they can save a lot of money or think they are getting one over on the importers by missing out the middle man, and of course tere are those who will go to a dealer, try a brand for size and then order online believing they are buying a genuine product.

At least Arai are trying to do somethig about it even if its only getting word out thatthe fakes are appearing online.

Apparantly a number have already been sold.
