Daughter picks up a Renault scenic, (four years old, low mileage) tomorrow, she noticed condensation in one of the light units, Harrats said they'd sort it.
They rang her today & said they are doing nothing with the light unit as it's breathable & meant to be like that.
I've told her to get her deposit back & tell them to shove the car up their arses.

Actually..............
This is often seen on a range of Renault.. from the Megan to the Clio to the Scenic.
Amazingly the garage is not telling porkies..
Personally I would want it noted on any paperwork that should the headlight bulb fail within the next 12 months they ( the garage must replace it.. But yes, it is a genuine thing with the motors.
( Just google it.. There is a very good Renault forum and the issue often comes up )

This has been all over the BMW and Audi forums for years. The dealers have even published the factory technical service bulletins : turn main beam on until it clears!

I had this occasionally on one headlight on the Swedish barge:bow:, bent a wire coat hangar and stuck some microfibre towel on the end and stuck it in the back, took five minutes to clear it. Also sticking a hair dryer through the back after taking the bulb out cleared it, just took a bit longer.

HOWEVER, permanent solution was to stick a flap of latex over the rubber cover on the bulb holder - a bit of detective work revealed the water ingress was caused by water being flung up by one of the engine belts when driven in the wet.

It ain't rocket science - stop, the water getting in.

Personally it wouldn't stop me buying a car if the rest was good.h1d1ng2

Never had this issue with my Megane 1.9 Dci.

Turbo blew (common on the 1.9 diesels), ECU went twice due to the circuit board getting damp (also a common problem) and one of the rear window motors gave up, again due to getting wet (yep, also common), but none of the lights caused any issues.

The window winders are a recognised problem & when they go Renault will pay the majority of the cost, three years ago I bought an 04 plate megane & had all the windows fixed, total cost to me was about ?80, Renault stumped up about ?300 per window, that's what the dealers costings told us anyway.
Headlights on the older Meganes were always blowing & you need to fiddle about under the wheelarch to get to them, I just paid Halfords ?15 to do mine.
