Hello, ive fitted a jaws spacer on my bike which makes it lean slightly more on the side stand.i recently loaded up as a practice for my next camping trip, when my pillion seat is full of tent etc getting my leg over (ooer missus) is difficult ,so here is the question, does anyone do similar and then stand on the pegs whilst the bike is on side stand to mount and dismount,im just wondering if in doing so im gonna put too much strain on the side stand.
thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Not had any problems, but there again had the side stand extended by 18mm when i installed the spacer as was also getting the bike leaning over too far to the left and risking it falling over with the torsion effect of panniers etc. Plus, if the tarmac is a bit warm and soft it does not take much to get the sidestand to start to sink-in, with the obvious resulting .... crash !!!...

I also extended the side stand but only by about 10mm (plate welded to the bottom). when fully loaded and riding two up I tend to leave it on the side stand while the pillion gets on. Not had and don't expect to have any problems.

Hi Degsy thanks for that i have done this method of getting my legover on my other bike a kwakgtr1400 but it is a heavier touring bike and i thought the sidestand may have been made stronger initially. i will look into putting a plate on,or find a kerb,or do some yoga to work on my suppleness8rfl@

thanks for that Lee how did you extend the side stand?

As said, welded a steel lump to the bottom of the side stand. Lump has a rounded half-moom shape to the lower face and is the width of the side stand base. Also drilled a couple of 8mm holes through the lump (side to side) to lighten it a bit. In order to work out the distance to extend use a piece of wood under the side stand and check the lean angle before doing any welding. Mine was as stated 18mm added.

Clueless in most things
I am confused.

When carrying a pillion on a fully loaded bike I simply got on, straightened it up then the pillion used their footpeg's to climb over and sit on the bike. I do have the shim in and never noticed any real problems?

He means the pillion seat is full of stuff when he gets on. I used to slot my foot I'm first when in that situation, but I was more flexible back then!
