Bit late and not maybe what you want to hear but halfords do have a reputation for having people over and/or charging for work they either havent done, or didnt need doing. Sure there was a documentary hidden camera thing on them a couple years ago.....?

As said above, id personally whip the wheel off and check theyre actually new pads. But then again im an untrusting sort by nature anyway.....
A couple of years back I ordered two tyres for the RX8 through Asda Tyres. It was a really good deal and the only fly in the ointment was that the job would be done at the local Halfords Autocentre.
When I got back to collect the car everything seemed OK. It was only when I got in that I noticed that the wheel locking nut was missing.
When I asked them for it back they denied knowing anything about it.!
When I pointed out that they couldn't have changed the tyres without it they admitted that they'd lost it.
Turned out they left it on one of the wheels when they took it for a test drive.
They agreed to replace it but said it would be a week or so.
I explained that the car would stay parked across their roller doors, with a wheel clamp installed, until it arrived.
They had it delivered next day.

The other day I took my car to my local Halfords Autocentre to get the front pads replaced. I've noticed whilst driving it the brakes feel the same as they did when I dropped it off.

I'm sure years ago when I had my brake pads replaced the brakes always felt more grabby or is it different on newer cars :nusenuse:
Give the pads about 50 miles to bed in!
