May be a stupid question, but was it a new CCT from Jaws?

I ask as it's not unknown for someone to buy a cheap one form the bay of fleas which then needs replacing after a short while.

I had a Jaws replacement around 6 years ago & it's still going strong.

May just need resetting. My knowledge of this is a little sketchy but there's what looks like a screw on the top of it which when you turn anti-clockwise, winds the tensioner rod in (I think). Wind it in then release it again, that may solve your problem.

I'm sure someone with more technical knowledge than me will be along soon to either confirm my thoughts or (more likely) tell you I don't know what I'm talking about.

Pretty much correct.

There is a seal screw in the top you need to remove first.

Then as stated above - the screwdriver goes in to the end of the CCT and you turn it to retract the cct plunger.

Pull out the screwdriver and allow the spring to snap back to the correct position.

My factory one lasted ages. I then replaced it with a revised one from Jaws and it only lasted about 15 months (about 15k miles). The next lasted ages and at 77k miles has just been swapped out.

I remember asking Jaws at the time why one should have a shorter life than others and it seems it happens sometimes.

Type of use seems to have an impact too.
