Anybody know the best time of year to trim a Pyracantha bush, can't do it at the moment as it is in full bloom, but is it best when the bloom has gone or wait until next spring before it blooms?

..well a clematis is usually less problematic not as prickly as a pyrocantha

If you want prickly try Holly, but personally for sweetness I don't think you can beat Honeysuckle.

Dont feck about Dorick....
Pull the twatting thing up and lob a few flags down in its place and a couple of garden gnomes. Feckin gardening does me 'ed in.

Next some twat will be asking "Moderators can we have a Pyracantha section?"

There is already too much concrete in the world, what we need is more plants, when I had my smallholding [ok ok bring on the jokes] I kept a paddock full of weeds just for the butterflys

Agree we need more plants... loads more acres of hops and a good crop of wacky baccy should do nicely Dorick.

The usual time for trimming and pruning is just after flowering, which is generally autumn to early winter. I've got one of them too, just can't remember which one it is................

Ah, yes, load of bollox above, got two of them, try here http://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profiles0601/pruning_pyracantha.asp
