BULB COMPARISON.

Noticed today that my birds HID dip is not working.
Thinking of going down the LED route. Anyone able to give an honest appraisal of which is the better option.

I had an HID dipped bulb (not sure how good a version it was, build was good but didn't seem as bright as I'd hoped).
I decided to take the plunge and go LED for dipped and main and have not regretted it. I have 3000lm leds with inbuilt fans, they are bulky and tricky to fit as I had to do a fair few mods to get them to fit, but they are fantastic on the road. The ability to have a powerful main beam that you can flash with is perfect.
I believe there are slimmer bodied versions now with some doing fitting kits for the Bird too.

Thats good to know @tu*.
What mods did you have to make to get them to fit? I see some with fans state they protrude 2" at the rear, I assume that is the issue.

I had to make spacers to get both the correct insertion depth to give a sharp beam cutoff, and to make/modify the spring retaining clips. The main issue was the diameter of the heat sink/fan section that just touches the back of the headlight where it's inserted into the lense, it appears it needs to be inserted a long way in the Bird.
