Might I be bold enough to recommend opening a trade account with Travis Perkins if you need stuff.

Great prices compared to the diy chains and free delivery unless you live somewhere daft like The Outer Hebrides or Yorkshire.

Today I had delivered, amongst other things

four cocerete fence posts - £33 plus vat, £122 plus delivery from b&q
Grab bag of builders sand ££41 plus vat, £96 plus £20 delivery from Wickes

Very helpful as well.

Come on you Hatters
On a similar note, I popped into a local Wickes for a couple of tins of paint. I’m currently helping my mot man convert an old toilet block into an office, and after removing the plumbing have just carried on with the building work through to painting it out for him. Anyway, picked up a 5ltr wickes brand White vinyl silk for the cieling @£23. While looking for some Silk Magnolia for the walls I noticed the Leyland White Silk was £22, so I put the Wickes can back. Couldn’t find any magnolia in silk so headed into the Dulux area..... and found their white silk for £20!! And even better, there was a 2.5ltr can for £12 next to it, which was plenty for the area involved. Had to go to Toolstation for the magnolia though.

I didn't like the Leyland Trade stuff - it is really thick and hard to get a decent finish with a roller. Suppose it's good enough for a trade bodger.....

Screwfix is best for bits and pieces........
Toolstation is nearly always cheaper for the same items. But I guess you do need one near enough to make it worthwhile.
The Leyland paint has gone on fine today, but I wont bother wasting my breath telling you how you do this as I know you know better :asz:

Worth mentioning that there are discounts of around 10 to 15% if you open an account and order online, either for delivery or collection, at Travis Perkins.
