i don't have them on a blackbird though :p having said that..my tyre fitter didn't recommend me having them on my gixer as the profile was different to a sports tyre :dunno: but having done 1400 miles on them,i disagree with him.a few of my mates have them on blackbirds and swear by them :dunno: and they don't hang around R#?

Come on you Hatters
So has anybody gone from Azzaro St's to the Pilot Road 2's?

I ask becasue my current Azzaro rear is shagged and although I have a part worn rear that I took off last summer before a trip to Austria, which is going back on for now, I am looking for my next set ready for next spring.

With all the talk of problems from the Storms, and as there doesn't seem to be any Azzaro 'B's around anymore I am thinking of changing. Not to the 021's though, the premium price and lack of mileage from the 020's puts me off, and I've yet to see any improvement in the 021's to be interested. My mates had loads of 020's, and has just finished his first (and only) set of 021's, and has changed to Metzeler this time!!

So I was thinking Michelins. It doesn't bother me whether there recomended or not. Theres no legal requirement other than to fit a ZR rated tyre as per manufacturers instructions. So unless a tyre is specifically designed to help a certain models charcteristics I'm not really fussed. I don't ride on tracks at the limit like the testers do.

So are the Pilot Road 2's any good in the wet? Cos they'll be the first Michelin that does. Ive had Macadams, Pilot Sports, and tried Pilot Roads(1), and wouldn't try them again. Have Michelin really moved the game on?

If not I'll go for a set of standard Azzaro ST's while I can get them, at least I'll know what to expect.
Hugh.

Ben, please explain the relevance of what a race bike pilot has to say about tyres when the bike in question is a Bird and the riders are normal average joes like me ?

I dislike slagging stuff off but I was given a pair of Mich RP2's to try .. I will NOT be trying another pair.
They actually work really well on the roads in most parts of North America ( and no doubt other places too ) but just do not seem to work in the UK.. Odd I know.

I don't know about in the UK but there a few guys here in Aus from the east coast on OzBB that ride really hard and usually run PP's f&r but have started running the PR2 on the rear as they only get ~3-4000km out of a rear PP and it is all bald and balled up  . These guys scrape their fairings, stator covers etc while riding hard and they all reckon the PR2 is a very good tyre in the wet - not as good as the PP but close :dunno:. I will find out for myself as I am getting a new PR2 rear tomorrow :yo:
