Hahaaa, the French will be asking the Irish now for port security contributions, just before they go on strike and the migrants in the lorries will be hitting Dublin instead. They won't move from there I suspect.

Not even the Romanians want to go to Ireland. Too much competition from the Irish tinkers or are they all now in the UK? Does the launch mean Varadker will stop whinging about a hard border now? I don't think so. Most of Ireland's trade is with the UK anyway. There are more Irish citizens living in the UK than in the whole of the EU. Eire included! It's only the money they sponge from the EU that keeps the EU attractive. Tongue in cheek, Alec! :D

I bet it is still cheaper and quicker to reach the mainland EU via the UK. Those big ferries travel at a walking pace. Look at the crossing time for Irish Ferries' Ulysses. Three and a quarter hours on a good day for 72.9 miles. 750 miles by sea from Dublin to Antwerp which will be the vessels main post in the EU. White elephant and will soon be moved to some other more profitable route in the Far East. lol.

Let's hope it's a success. That will mean less Irish lorries on our roads tearing up the tarmac and not contributing to the maintenance, as they fill up in Ireland or Europe depending which direction they are travelling.

I flew over Rotterdam earlier this week.

It was stunning to see how many container ships were going in and out of the port. Hundreds.

Just saying, like.

Everything is shipped in boxes these days.
Liverpool now handles more cargo than it ever did, but all carried by a handful of boxboats rather than hundreds of cargo ships in the past.
