What a ride. Set off from Stockton on Tees 0700 hrs on a cool damp morning into thick fog in Northumberland. First stop Berwick on Tweed for a welcome coffee then across country into better weather to Carlisle, Whitehaven and Barrow in Furness. Back across country through south lakeland to Skipton where we learned we needed to make a lengthy detour as the recent wet weather had caused a landslide to block the A59 near Blubberhouses. Through York and on to Scarborough. The last leg took us back to a finish near Darlington. About 530 miles.
Sadly the sense of achievement has been marred by learning that one rider was killed and another seriously injured when they were hit by a car near Northallerton, North Yorks.
