Black 2000 Blackbird

New to me. Had to be black didn't it!

I'd think it's been owned by someone on here at aome point. Lots of classic modifications.

50,000 on the clock and runs like new.

First up is sorting the suspension. And maybe changing the Avon storms as not sure I like them.

How deep are the forks meant to be in the top triple clamp? I think someones dropped the triple clamp down the forks on mine...

EDIT: 39mm from the top of the fork cylinder to the triple clamp, from the service manual.

Appears the bike has springs from JAWS, as they're 338ish and 100mm spacers.

My sag is 40mm, wanted to bring this down a little, anyone know how many shims of certain width it takes to bring it down say 5mm?

Thought it would work well as a history of my bike in owners bike. Just didn't want to start a new thread.

You do that and it will be virtually unrideable.. It will be like a pogo stick
The damper will NEVER be able to control the rebound properly

I would have expected 35 to 38mm.. May be the springs were replaced several years ago and are passed their best

Or that I'm only 70kg. ;)

It was with a full tank, but no riding gear. 40mm isn't too much really.

Should I move the thread to the 'there is going to be an argument' section now?

Just realised you misunderstood. I want to reduce the sag, so bring it from 40mm to 35mm. I figured I could add a few shims on the top of the forks to do this.
So I wondered if anyone knew how much a mm of shim would give in mm reduction in sag, I figure it's equal.

Well I would start with a spacer tube of 110mm and adjust from there
