Andy, presumably you eat food.......That is transported by large diesel vehicles.
Presumably you buy furniture & white goods..........That are delivered by large diesel vehicles.
Presumably you order goods online........That are delivered by various sized diesel vehicles.
Presumably you wipe your arse on toilet paper, how many trees are you killing each year?
How do you get rid of your waste? Put it in the appropriate bin & make it someone else’s problem?
Do you buy produce wrapped in plastic?

Diesel is used as an alternative to petrol as petrol is highly carcogenic.
To power any vehicle requires the burning of some fuel, when you burn something it gives off gases which enter the air that we breathe, there is no such thing as clean fuel so instead of sitting on your high horse proclaiming that you are saving the planet wake up & realise you are just as responsible for destroying it as any of us
Two minor points, Dezza:

1. Andrew doesn’t shit so therefore doesn’t use bog roll.

2. His poofy petrol, along with a significant amount of other products in his mansion, will have arrived on these shores by sea. Ships run on diesel, usually consuming between 20 and 40 tonnes of the stuff per day.

And it's a diesel so you don't have to rev the nuts off it to get up an ant hill. Top man.

I rest my case.

Every example you give of a diesel is a lorry.

Need I say more?

I can't see why you waste time worrying about the tiny amount of pollution you're saving by getting 50mpg from your little old petrol engine. I'll start worrying about saving the planet when somebody does something about the ten thousand taxi drivers in Mumbai and their Morris Oxfords.

My diesel does 25 to the gallon and costs 550 quid a year to tax. It's dearer to run than a coke habit but I love it. 70mph is a gentle 1600rpm and it's so quiet I can hear my pacemaker ticking. Boat engine my arse.

Take my advice. Get a decent diesel while you still can.
If there was such a thing as a decent diesel I might consider it.

Actually, no I wouldn't.

My diesel is awesome and would blow your poofy petrol into the weeds and still emit less pollutants.

good looking AND modest
Makes me laugh, all these southern softies winging about diesel and what harm they are doing to the planet, everything has to be "euro 6" to get into Londinium, every twat calling for trucks to be banned, the tossers on push rods winging as well, here's a bit of news for them all, given half a chance no fekking hgv driver wants to go there, we would soon see the shops empty and every fekker winging about that!! grow up learn to live with it.

Um, it’s only Andrew ‘winging’ about diesel and trucks. The rest of us are fans.

I think Clarkson has the right idea about lorry drivers but that’s another story.

You seem to have avoided my question about road tax, which is largely based on pollution levels.......

There is a lot of FAKE NEWS in this thread.

I have never said that diesels aren't the best option for boats and lorries. They probably are.

I have and will maintain they are a very poor second choice in cars.

Remember that every time you listen to your diesel car clattering on start up or trailing a plume of blue smoke when putting the pedal to the metal (albeit briefly before the rev limiter kicks in).
