Gutted. We'll have to predict how many times your panzer will break down this season instead.

All I will say is that I travelled to Wales in the panzer in convoy with friends in a Ford diesel.

One is still purring away beautifully after 780 miles, the other was last seen on the back of a breakdown truck.

The one that is still running has averaged almost 50mpg, despite having four occupants and their luggage post breakdown.

So they wouldn't travel with you unless they had to.

If you’d have had a diesel like me, you’d have had closer to 70mpg

Pinched from another site.
When was the last time you saw a non-German vehicle on a flatbed tow truck? Not saying other makes don't use them, but Germans would probably beat the Japanese / Koreans 9:1 in this competition. After all, German car marques are now the masters of breakdowns!

Brand new E250 - Link to thread (New E250CDI - Stalled!!!)

Yes I know it’s a Merc but it’s still German shite & the quote is about German cars in general.

And to be fair, that post dates back 10 years !

It may be an old post, but I have seen quite a few German "named" cars on flatbeds, however they are often built in other countries and not just in Panzerland!!

Had a lovely run back from Bath this morning. Purred like a kitten all the way, as did the car.

I may agree about Mercs - as I mentioned a few months ago my neighbour had a CLS AMG - after much arguing the garage have taken it back, no end of problems and they never did fix the exhaus although they kept saying 'it is supposed to sound like that'. Maybe if it was a diesel..... plastics on the bodywork were like the stuff ice cream tubs are made from. I had two Mercedes as company cars, didn't like either of them. Uncomfortable.

My Merc was as comfortable as a big comfortable thing. Mrs P took me to collect my GS in her 2 series and it was solid, planted and didn’t crash over bumps and pot holes. You need to get a new chauffeur.

I would never by a Merc from the dealer in Maidstone ever again though, but that’s another story.

Piffle!

And try and explain why your car tax on your smelly stinking polluting diesel is significantly higher than on my petrol engined car...??

Oooops I have just answered my own question.....:roto2palm:

I can't see why you waste time worrying about the tiny amount of pollution you're saving by getting 50mpg from your little old petrol engine. I'll start worrying about saving the planet when somebody does something about the ten thousand taxi drivers in Mumbai and their Morris Oxfords.

My diesel does 25 to the gallon and costs 550 quid a year to tax. It's dearer to run than a coke habit but I love it. 70mph is a gentle 1600rpm and it's so quiet I can hear my pacemaker ticking. Boat engine my arse.

Take my advice. Get a decent diesel while you still can.

Andy, presumably you eat food.......That is transported by large diesel vehicles.
Presumably you buy furniture & white goods..........That are delivered by large diesel vehicles.
Presumably you order goods online........That are delivered by various sized diesel vehicles.
Presumably you wipe your arse on toilet paper, how many trees are you killing each year?
How do you get rid of your waste? Put it in the appropriate bin & make it someone else’s problem?
Do you buy produce wrapped in plastic?

Diesel is used as an alternative to petrol as petrol is highly carcogenic.
To power any vehicle requires the burning of some fuel, when you burn something it gives off gases which enter the air that we breathe, there is no such thing as clean fuel so instead of sitting on your high horse proclaiming that you are saving the planet wake up & realise you are just as responsible for destroying it as any of us

Because you more than likely have a poofy two litre. Aside from that, my super clean diesel is an EU cat 6, which is cleaner than most poofy petrols :b2:
