Whats going on with the road works on the M1 through Leicestershire :dunno:
Had to go that way for the first time in ages at the weekend and had to drag through several miles of road works around J20-21 (I think). The thing that caught my eye is that the centeral reservation appears to have been removed and replaced with concrete T-barriers so that the carriageway ends at the barriers, rather than the rumble strip/concrete edge/rough grass before you hit the old style crash barriers. Initial thoughts are:
Why? Are they trying to widen the road for 4 lanes, in which case its going to get very cosy with the big 14-wheelers 'cos they ain't gained that much extra width. And lets face it the rep mobile/Volvo/BMW :wank: brigade are going to regard any extra lane as their own private property.
How many accidents
. People still hit the central reservation crash barriers with all the warnings the get from the rumble strip etc. Imagine the carnage with a lump of concrete only a few inches away at 70 MPH ish (officer  )
