How so..? The original Lynx's are getting long in the tooth (pardon the pun). The Wildcat replacement (essentially a modernised Lynx) is fair bit more capable.
....or is it the farewell flyby that you're aiming at...?
What about our nuclear arsenal. Andy. How do your feel about the strillions about to be spent upgrading that. Do you agree with Corbyn that we should scrap the nuclear weapons but keep building the submarines to keep the Clyde workers in a job?
My objection is to wasting public money on what is effectively a jolly rather than buying things that go bang.
Er, no I wouldn't.I'm pretty certain that if it were Spit's doing it instead of Lynx helicopters then you'd be out there with your camera and no complaints.
Thinking about this furthervthen yes, I probably would.I'm pretty certain that if it were Spit's doing it instead of Lynx helicopters then you'd be out there with your camera and no complaints.
Er, no I wouldn't.
What a strange thing to say??
I take your point...up to a pointMy point is that I suspect that you wouldn't complain about the cost if (god forbid) the MOD decided to retire the aircraft of the BBMF from service and they went on a farewell flyby tour.
Those of us who have served in and around the whirlybirds have just as much fondness for them as others might have for certain fixed wing aircraft. e.g. If the Chinook ever gets retired in my lifetime then I'll have no complaints as a tax payer if a few of them were to go on a farewell tour.
The Lynx tour will set us back about £50k - or roughly the bottom end of the pay scale for Squadron Leaders or Majors. Whitelhall's bursting at the seems with middle ranking ruperts with feck all to do but sponge on expenses... in one of them and the flight's paid for.
