Wonder if there is a response from manufacturers anywhere?

I am always amazed at the amount of folk who fit K and N filters and never ever oil them !!

Without the oil you may as well have nothing at all in the air box !

And I reckon that 5 to 10k miles is proly way too long between cleaning and re-oiling..
K and N type filters really need cleaning and re-oiling every 3 to 5K miles..

Yes, you may well save a few bob ( providing you keep the bike for more than 24000 miles ) but they are damned high maintanance !!

I had a jet kit fitted to my fazer 1000 and the maker stated NOT to use k+n or any other filter except the standard paper one. He said the standard filter could flow much more air than the engine needed.
There was also an issue about the filter oil 'gumming up' the AFM in a cars intake system causing rough running.

I think you mean flow wise John as I'm sure it'll still stop bugs, and larger particles such as bits falling from Harleys and rust from Suzukis?

..........and also GPS instructions and bottles of eye correcting fluid bouncing down a foreign motorway :dunno:
