Anyone got any experience of this in a domestic situation?

Can't quite bring myself to order it for new extension, dining room and kitchen. Don't know why, my son's trendy flat has it in the kitchen diner and it is ruddy lovely.

Dithering.

You could have a look at Kahrs flooring - similar but not so expensive.

We got wood effect in new extension at home and it looks great and wearing well.

Do get it fitted by a specialist and make sure they use floor levelling compound

we've used antico and Karndean.

Both very good quality.

As someone said earlier, get it fitted by a professional!

We have had Amtico for years. Very good and very hard wearing.
We wanted the same in our tv room. They do a cheaper range called " spacia" to compete with rivals.

We switched to Karndean Van Gogh range. Brilliant, i am a fussy bastid and this stuff is the absolute nuts.

Best mates mate is floor layer. He did spectacular job and has same in his house.

Amtico know that competition is massive now, hence y they HAD to bring out Spacia range. Karndean is awesome too.

You wont go wrong with either of them

Still using shag pile as well as stick down tiles, worked perfectly well since the 60's. No need for this modern doo dah rubbish

Although now It's been raised I fully expect Andy to be asking what is the best make of cutting knife and is it okay to use sillicon when the cut against a surface isn't as accurate as he'd hoped.:-0)

Thanks for all the comments.

Looks like we are joining the Karndean brigade.

Now, anyone know if I will be able to fit it using my Swiss Army Knife and a Pritt- Stick?

Or would AmericanDepressed pop down and help?

I've worked in a couple of new builds recently where they've used Karndean.
There are some fantastic designs available. @tu*

It also seems to be the 'must have' for a certain crowd round these parts.

Can't make our minds up on colour now:bang:, 35 mile round trip today to have another look at the Amtico slate range which hadn't previously featured in our thinking.

I tend to find that when a customer dithers and can't make-up their mind of colour/design, they generally end up going back to their first choice. :dunno:

Sorry!

Karndean throughout a fair bit of the downstairs here. Including some tile effect in the conservatory. Its good stuff. Hallway in particular has been excellent in surviving the abuse of my neighbours high heels - she has completely shagged her own solid oak floor with them.

35 mile round trip to learn if nothing else that I am not allowed to have 'Atlantic Slate'.

It is too dark. Apparently.

8rfl@. I can recommend kardean Van Gogh classic oak, wide panels, think 6", might be 7". ( my Mrs always says I exaggerate!8rfl@) Looks lovely but nothing like slate! We were looking at different type until we saw this in a shop display

We kept it simple and didn't go for patterns, inserts or angles. Wot ever u go for you will love the quality of it. I was amtico fan before but this was for me now

I can definitely understand the attraction of both Amtico and Karndean.

Unfortunately we can't gomfor a wood option as it would be too much with oak windowsills, furniture and worktops in the three rooms we are looking at. Son has near black wood Amtico in his uber trendy London apartment and it is the nuts.:yo:

However, we had our first quote yesterdaysh1tehppns.. Essentially we are looking to run Karndean from the kitchen (concrete floor) through the dining area (parquet) through the new extension (concrete) covering around 50sq m. The parquet in the middle bit needs to be taken up, screed laid then liquid latex laid over the whole lot. The labour and materials for the prep work is staggeringly expensive, hope they are just trying it on. Got another firm quoting on Monday..................

Yep not cheap. I had it done in new extension. Builder screeded floor using a decent laser. You could see it was pissed and could feel it when walking over it. He clearly ignored the laser. And was a crap floor screeded!

Mates mate laid latex over it and got it flat enough considering. A bag of latex and a bottle of primer is not cheap, if I remember right it was £25 for bag and bottle and I had 10 of them. Then you you have to pay em to come back and level the high spots of the latex, then lay adhesive then the product. To be fair to them it's not a quick job.

Close to 14 Years ago I paid £100 a square metre to lay latex, prep it, and supply and fit amtico!! Thank god it was only 10m square room. I wouldn't have paid that this time around. Thankfully they gone down from that now!
