....and now have one! I'm Aaron, and I've just purchased a 2000 CBR1100XX in Candy Phoenix Blue. I've just had a CBF1000, so this is quite a change to the riding position. Haven't had a chance to use it much yet, but it needs a bit of tidying first which I intend to do over the winter months.

Yes I'll look into that, thanks...I'm not overly struck on them being white either!

Clueless in most things
If you want to put a centre stand back on use search. Some remove them when they fit 2 into 1's but I think robbo? used rubbers to extend the stand far enough away from the akro so you can keep both.

Tyre pressure on both are 42psi no matter who or what is on it, semi synth 10/40 oil works best, if your going to use the standard seat and have a passenger then a tribo seat cover is a good cheap addition.

Search for everything else and piss taking is positively encouraged

Welcome

Thanks for the warm welcome chaps - and also, for the great tips noobie!

RE: the center stand - yes, a bit of a pain that there isn't one on my bike, but luckily I have an ABBA stand to get either wheel in the air. They are great bits of kit

Pictures can be deceptive! The fairings are not too bad, but underneath is a bit tired. I will be addressing this over the next coupe of months

good looking AND modest
A bit of ACF50 helps with any rust issues under the skin, plus you may want to take a look at the "Jaws" motorcycle parts web shop, though it'll probably cost you an arm and a leg if you get the "wants" 8rfl@ a look at your radiator might be an idea, as well as the oil lines as they will be getting a little tired by now if they haven't been seen to already, plus has someone "mentioned" the loom fix?? if not here's a thread on it by way of explanation.@tu*

Been using ACF-50 for years. It's great stuff.

I've yet to check for the loom fix. I'll do that ASAP.

Yes, they could well be trying that - or covering up stone chips! I like it though!

Dig yer Gilles rear sets, what setting in the range are they at? Always wondered could they be set to achieve a lower more comfortable set up than stock?
Looks like it has braided lines, are the bars ergos standard?

The akra....four into one yeah? Is there a power commander and custom map there? Either way how is fuelling especially lower end and mpg?

Lovely bus enjoy her! but if she were mine I'd destroy the bar ends with prejudice. Also 42 42 back in the day was best practice but tyre tech creeps along and modern tyres have gotten better so I no longer feel the need to run those pressures. Your milage may vary. What tyres are on er? They bt014!?

Thanks for the kind comments!

Rear sets are set to lowest and furthest forward...but not in this pic above. The previous owner had thread locked the fasteners in, so one side was rounded off! Hence me having to drill it out today. It's all moved now, and I believe it's lower than stock. I will post pics tomorrow.

Braided lines throughout, and the linked brakes have been kept. The brake feel is excellent. I think the pads are ebc hh.

Yes it's a full Akrapovic 4-2-1 system. Sounds wonderful. It has a custom map on a Power commander II...but no idea how or who set it up. Fuelling seems excellent and at least as good as my old CBF1000. No idea about MPG yet...I've only just bought her.

I believe they are BT014s, and I am running 42 42 at the moment. Yes...the bar ends are hideous...they are going!

If you fancy a run down the coast I have enough new semi synthetic oil left over from my Bird ownership in the garage for an oil and filter change if you want it.

Assuming that your charging circuit can work for a journey that long of course.......

She's done right so! Nice to hear the P.O. finished the job and had her mapped. Any dyno graph present?? Assuming the tuner knew his game she should be up roughly 10 to fifteen odd rwhp!

Bummer re the drilling but your bang on to persist, stock bird ergos are shiter than shit imo.

Had he done anything to suspension pray tell? If stock gets jaws' fork springs and a nitron shock.

Nice that the linked brakes are kept, they work in the real world. Consider oem rather than ebc on renewal, better initial bite from former imo.

Consider gilles vario or convertibars to fix the recalcitrant bar ergos and you sir have a tasty groovy bus to boogy with.
