Just bought another BB and wasn't even looking to buy!
Not sure if its a nostalgia thing or whatever but i believe i would need one even if i couldn't ride any more!
Anyhoooo, its a 57 plate bike in decent condition and low (18k miles)
I will no doubt start throwing money at it in order to tailor it to my preference and have bought the ABBA Skylift to aid with maintenance and cleaning etc.
First job is tyres so feedback on the PR5s would be welcome however im open to opinions on tyres that stick rather than tour, 5k miles changes would be around limit life?

Tyre choices. That'll start a bun fight.

Pirelli Angels on mine and happy with their performance. Good compromise for all the eventualities that British weather can muster. Dunlop Roadsmart 3's also have a good rep.
I've stayed away from Michelins based on previous experience on other bikes years ago. They always seemed to let go without warning. Don't know if they've improved in that dept. over the years.

The problem with putting outright sports tyres on the Bird is that it's a heavy beast, which means the likely tyre lifespan will be pretty low (assuming that you'll rag it everywhere).
Sports touring rubber is probably a better option in reality.....virtually the same "real world" levels of grip of an outright sports rubber, but with better longevity.

If the truth be told, with the reality of British roads and weather, most of us don't need out-and-out, top notch sports tyres.

I have Contintal Sport Contact 5 on the car. Very happy with them.

Might try the Pirelli P zero if I ever need to change all four at the same time.

That is about as useful as any other answer you will get on Bird tyres!!

Which is unlikely if you have no friends bar Dirk to visit ... just saying:asz:

I've just put Road 5's on my 'Bird. Only done about 300 miles on them, but I'm impressed.
Never tried Pirelli or Avon, if someone would give me a pair cheap then I may be tempted to try them.
