How about ANOTHER tyre thread ??

ianrobbo1

good looking AND modest
As some of you know, Yvonne, my partner, has a Honda Hornet 600, she has been pretty good on it, and now it needs a new front tyre, now the bike has a nearly new Dunplop on the back and a Battleaxe 021 or some such, now do we buy another dunlop to have a matching pair, or another Battleaxe and swap the Dunplop over when the back one dies, IMG-20151003-WA0008.jpg so they are a matched pair, preferable imo, BTW as you may know, I'm not a Dunlop fan and have little experience of the Battleaxe's, so open to unbiased opinions on the make and longevity of either tyre.

Matched pair is always best. No experience of any bike tyres now! :llorona:

Even if you replace the front with the same type as the rear the profiles won't match.

A new set will make it feel like a new bike.

Glad you made an attempt to clear up the garage before taking the photo.

Not sure what insurance companies think about odd tyres????
I read somewhere that some companies expect original tyres to be used- original may not be made any more.

Anybody using Pirelli these days?

Honest opinion as you asked :D

There is a lot of utter rubbish said when it comes to tyres yes a new matched pair of pretty much anything from one of the big names will make the bike feel nicer to ride for the first few hundred miles but you don't have to have them & you don't have to even use the same maker front & back as long as one or the other isn't a really pointy profile (EG track tyre ) it will be fine unless you happen to be |Mr Rossi or similar

And here is where all the bull comes in, the makers will recommend a matched pair simply because they want to sell more tyres, I'm fine with that as I'm quite happy to use all those perfectly good fronts or rears all those Rossi wanabe's throw away & no I don't ride like you granny either ;)

Said wanabe's will all tell you that they are related to god because they have the latest & greatest brand new matched pair of tyres & it sounds brilliant right up until the point someone like me rides round the outside of them on well used second hand touring tyres :risas3:

So round & black from one of the major makers in the correct size is fine for the front or rear no matter what is on the other end unless she intends going on the track any time soon

PS I like Bridgestone's

Come on you Hatters
Michelins for me. Unfortunately they dont make the right sizes for my Pan in their new road5, so im stuck with 4’s till they do. But id go for the 5 front now and match it with a rear when needed. You’d probably find youll need a pair next time round then.
