F*cking great.....

The NHS is one of the most inefficiently managed government organisations in the country....so instead of first trying to get the various overpaid hospital Trust executives to actually do what they are paid to do, they've decided that the best and first course of action is to fleece the tax payer.

CNUTS....... :BangHead:

I'm so glad we have private health insurance.

Unfortunately, the NHS has been fucked by a series of managers (that couldn't manage a piss-up in a brewery) and being run in to the ground by abuse from people who are not entitled to use it.

Like binge drinkers who fall over or get into fights, or morbidly obese people who haven't got the willpower to say no to a mars bar, or heavy smokers with their heart & lung diseases.

Yep, and people from developing countries who have life threatening illnesses that come to the UK and subsequently fall down dying within ten minutes of clearing immigration. They get treated (I’m talking ‘treated’ big style here; major organ transplants, etc) and then fuck off home without paying their bill. They do it because we’re a soft touch.

I’m all for compassion towards fellow man but when British citizens that have worked, paid tax and NI for a number of years keep getting shoved down the list because a non-entitled person has jumped the queue, then a line has to be drawn.

Or those with a dangerous hobby i.e. horse riders / motorcyclists ....
Motorcyclists are generally amongst the most careful of road users, it's pricks in petrol BMW's etc that make biking dangerous.
There are more people attend hospital who have had an accident at barbecues than there are with horse riding injuries.

I don’t recall saying motorcyclists themselves were dangerous?

Do you have the BBQ stats?

Was in my local hospital last week for an appointment & had to have a blood test before I left. I visited two departments, cardiology and Out patients and aside from one nurse and the surgeon I saw, I didn't hear a British accent.

The government are relaxing immigration laws to make it easier for more 'foreigners' with medical training to enter the uk.

They are welcome as far as I am concerned.

You can prove anything with statistics. Fewer people get injured/killed when drinking and driving than people walking home drunk. Therefore it is safer to drink and drive than walk home drunk.

Plus one Derek.

I have maintained for years that those that suck up resources i.e. criminals and abusers of the health service should be financially liable for the consequences of THEIR actions.

While I did encounter foreign NHS workers, Doctors, Nurses and Porters (and I have no issue with that), I was more referring to the patients. Even in the coffee shop spoken English was the minority language.

The thing I object to is people getting their qualifications over here then going abroad to work.

I agree with the philosophy but in practice it is hard to argue against training here and going abroad. My niece is well on the way to becoming a paediatric consultant and was telling me at the weekend that her earning potential is three or four times greater in the Middle/Far East than it is in the U.K. She is not saying she will go, but I wouldn't blame her if she did.

Entirely agree, but with the proviso that at least a portion of funds spent on training are repaid in kind , same applies to dentists who immediately go to private after qualifying.

Not a bad idea. They do put plenty in while learning their trade - niece works silly hours, really silly, for somewhat less than a king's ransom, so the nhs is probably getting decent value. She also spent seven years at university/medical school that was funded privately.

Interestingly p, as an aside, you can study nursing in Wales and the government pays for it unlike England.
