In many ways
I fondly remember the stick on defroster.

Amazing what you didn't get in cars many years ago.

My first car didn't even have a carpet (rubber mats) or reversing lights (although the fittings were there (even the switch on the gearbox and bulb holders in the rear lights) it was an optional extra when new).

I was lookng fondly at the 10% interest advert. From the days before banks lent money they didn't have to people who couldn't afford to repay it.

How on earth do you ‘fondly’ remember a stick on heated window. A good woman, a good holiday etc yes, but a fekkin fondness for a car accessory! Get back to the streetlight saga.

Today's youth think they have it tough on home buying - in the distant days when I had a mortgage I never paid less than 9%.

My first mortgage was 14% rose to around 16% then changed to a fixed rate at 12%.

10% interest and inflation at 9%? :D
Good point - a bit of rampant inflation was a good thing for borrowers.

An irony of my retirement is that the two 'cost of living' rises I have had on my pension have both been more than double the equivalent for my ex-colleagues who are still working.

I have spent the last two days laying railway sleepers to create flower beds. Was going to start laying pavoirs round the lawn today but have decided to take the day off as I am a bit off colour. Think it may be hay fever.

Here are a couple of snaps to show progress.

Hope they are inspirational.

Oh, the files are too large.

Ahh I laid the first run of block type paving along one side of the rear lawn yesterday. Quite pleased with it too! The days just fly by.

Remember the wood effect centre consoles you could get with faux leather gear stick cover? I got one for my Avenger from a breakers, I was after a new wing but saw the centre console so I got that as well, even had a built in clock that someone had added, didn't take much to wire it in & added bonus was just behind the gear stick was a space for about six cassette tapes

I’m using the blocks to edge the lawn to create a mowing strip. We have lawns in the South Dirk, not marshland.
Marshland? Oh you mean that stuff they have in Lincolnshire?
Not much call for it here in the Garden of England.
